EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) foam is called expandable polystyrene in Chinese. This material contains 3-6 million independent air-tight bubbles per square meter. The air volume is more than 98%, and its shock absorption and impact resistance are good. It is also very widely used, such as some motorcycle headgear and so on. This material can also be modified to enhance its strength and resistance, but it will produce harmful gases when burned, and it cannot be recycled, so its environmental performance is poor. Because of its moderate cost, this material is widely used in domestic seats and some international brands.
EPP is a highly crystalline polymer material with excellent performance. Its scientific name is Expanded Polypropylene. Its strength, temperature resistance, and environmental performance are higher than the above two. It is the future development trend of cushioning materials in the future. Due to the limitation of the cost of this material, in the field of safety seats, it is generally only found on some international high-end brand child safety seat products, and this material is also useful in a few outstanding domestic brand seats.
